Termites
Drywood Termites (Incisitermes minor), the most popular in Southern California, the conquers and destroys homes and buildings from all areas in San Diego, Orange, San Bernardino, Riverside, and Los Angeles Counties. Drywood Termites swarm in all seasons of the year, however, mostly in the Autumn from August to November. The weather and climate play a huge factor in how much termite infestation will be there for the year. Drywood Worker Termites eat away wood structures and leave sawdust pellets behind. Also, if there is wood damage or dryrot, this indicates an infestation of termites for as long as 4-10 years. Drywood termites live in wood their whole lives. As much as 2,000 to 5,000 termites can be in one colony. They feed entirely on wood, therefore, leaving absolute devastation to any wood structure, such as a vulnerable home. Subterranean Termites (Reticulitermes hesperus) Subterranean Termites do their fair share of destruction as well. Subterranean Termites mainly swarm in the spring time during the months of February - May. After winter and into a warmer climate brings the Subterranean Termites to the surface. They start from the ground and work themselves inside the walls and foudation of the property by creating tunnels. They leave a mud-like, brown coccoon behind in the areas of the home in which they have colonated. Whichever termite has decide to colonate inside your home, there is a family tree with the particular termite. King and Queen Termites (Order isoptera) conquer together from place to place and create large colonization ranging from 2,000 to 5,000 termites. Once they have matted, destroyed, and grown in size they move to another infrastructure. King and Queen termites have helpers such as the Worker Termite and the Soldier Termite. The Worker Termite is responsible for borrowing inside your walls, siding, fascia, eaves, attic, etc. and damaging the stability of your home. Soldier Termites protect the colony and defend against any other intruding insects that may be a threat.
The lifestyles of drywood and subterranean termites may go unnoticed by the common person. However, some of the signs you want to look for with colonization is swarming termites, termite droppings, and soft, crumbling wood. Because infestation may go unnoticed, the right choice is to
