Rat Control San Diego
Roof Rats are the common found rats in the state of San Diego. Roof rats were discovered at first in the area of Arcadia District in the year 2002 and slowly they invaded they started to invade their existence in the other nearby areas including San Diego. Vector program is one of the programs that is used and is very effective in getting rid of the rodents in the area.
One of the first things that the Vector program offers is of identifying rodents in your premises and measures to keep them away from homes. It is very important to get rid of all the roof rat’s food supply and that is done by harvesting citrus and other fruit. It is to pick up all the fruits both which are ripe and which aren’t on citrus and other fruit and nut trees and to pick up any fallen fruits too. This has to be done promptly. Fruit and the nut trees welcome roof fats, which are nuisance to your premises.
Manicuring your landscape is another important factor, it is important to keep the yard clean. It is important to prune the fruit trees so that the ground under them is open and visible. All the woodpiles and brush piles have to be removed from the yard. Wood and lumber piles have to be stored at least 18 inches above the ground and 12 inches away from the walls. It is important to follow these instructions since roof rats can survive on anything, this can include pet food and the garbage.
To trap the rodents set snap traps and baits stations in wherever there is a chance of rodent hiding there. Some of the areas where rats can be seen are laundry room and garden shed. Bait stations are made of plastic, cardboard or metal, which provide a protected place for rats to feed. They also allow placing poison baits in some of the locations where it would be otherwise difficult because of the hazards that can be caused to non-targeted animals.
It is helpful to place two bait stations in the yard, 4 feet or higher off the ground. It is also important to ensure that the bait stations are closed in the morning to protect wild birds that might be attracted to the bait station. If poison blocks are placed in directly to tree branches that can cause unwanted harm to cats and wild life. Therefore, it is very important to be careful of that fact. Last but not the least is to ensure that the resident home is properly sealed so that the poisoned rat has no entry whatsoever in the house.
